The kidney stone usually comprised of a compound called calcium oxalate which are the result of an accumulation of dissolved minerals on the inner lining of the kidneys. These deposits can grow to the size of golf ball.
The kidney stone that remains inside the body can lead to many conditions, including severe pain and ureter blockage that obstructs the path urine uses to leave the body.
The kidneys play an essential role in keeping our body healthy by filtering out wastes and reabsorbing required substances.. Large kidney stone blocks the passageways in the renal pelvis and ureter, due to which the urine gets trapped and wastes start to accumulate. A buildup of toxins and urine, impair normal functions of the kidneys and may even cause death. The conditions such as Urethritis, cystitis and pyelonephritis require medical attention.
Escherichia coli ( E.Coli ), are the bacterias that normally live in the colon. When these bacterias multiply in the urethra, an infection called urethritis — an inflammation of the urethra — occurs. When a blockage of the urine flow occurs because of kidney stone, the bacteria will multiply and inflame urethra. The signs and symptoms of the urethritis in men are stated as bloody urine or semen; painful urination; presence of discharge from penis; frequent or urgent urination; fever; pain during intercourse or ejaculation and itchy, tender or swollen groin. For the women, the signs or symptoms include abdominal pain, painful urination, fever and chills, pelvic pain, frequent or urgent urination and presence of discharge from the vagina.
Cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder, develops when the urethritis is left untreated. Cystitis occurs more often in women than men because of shorter urethra and consequently shorter distance the bacteria have to travel to the bladder. Important warning signs include cloudy urine accompanied by a strong odor, frequent / urgent urination, painful urination, pressure in the lower pelvis and urination at night.
When the bacterias build up in the kidneys, the pyelonephritis, or the inflammation of the renal pelvis and renal medulla, occurs. The person with kidney infection should seek medical treatment immediately, to avoid the infections to any other organs and tissues. These infections might lead to serious health complications and even death.
The kidney stone less than 5 mm and are not causing pain can be left without treatment. A small sized kidney stone may dislodge on its own and be flushed out in urination. But it is still recommended for the patients to have their condition monitored by a healthcare provider.
Kidney stone are not considered as life-threatening, even though they can cause problems such as urinary tract infections and kidney damage. If the kidney stone are left untreated, bacteria may grow behind the blockage thus causing an infection. Long-term kidney stone can also cause a build-up of pressure in the kidneys.
The best way to avoid Kidney stone is to “Drink water.” It will help in flushing the kidney stone from kidneys. Thus keeping the body free of the kidney stone.
